Some words about Circum-Baikal bridges

The bridges here were being built twice - first during building of the railway (1902-1904, track 1), thenduring building of the second track (1911-1914, track 2). The most beautiful engineering structures were built during the first period, but bridges for the second track were simpler from the aesthetic point of view. It is necessary to note that not always the 2nd track was built farther from rocks as it is accepted to think,- for example very beautiful stone viaduct over Bol'shaya Krutaya Guba River is situated nearer to Baikal that the second, more primitive bridge. But mainly the second track was built farther from rocks and overwhelming majority of bridges at the shore are younger than ones closer to rocks.
Bridges are marked pale yellow, stone pipes are marked light green. The units you can find in Photogallery have direct references from the table (for bridges of even and odd tracks).
This list is created on October 3, 1999.
Note: all stone pipes, all viaducts and bridges only with length more 10 m (at any rate at one of the tracks) were included in the List.
