Tunnels and Galleries Rambler's Top100 Service Transsib Handbook

The necessary explanations

The list of tunnels was created independently from each other by Mikhail Krainov and Sergey Sigachyov as a result of their trips along Circum-Baikal railway in 1999, then it was checked and co-ordinated. After that it has undergone to a significant correcting due to the invaluable help of Alexander Khobta, who who has submitted in our order exlusive data.
You can see here all the tunnels and galleries: active, where up to the present railway track passes; invalid, where railway track is dismantled they are not used for moving (1-track galleries of even track); one derelict tunnel and one derelict gallery of the old track (the track was changed on these sections); and one tunnel and one gallery leveled during construction of second track. The numbering of the units is historical (from Baikal to Slyudanka) but succesion is reverse (from Slyudyanka to Baikal). Tunnels are marked pale yellow, stone galleries are marked light-green and ferro-concrete galleries are marked a colour of marine waves. The distance is adduced under the topographical survey data, submitted by Alexander Khobta (everywhere beginning of an object is specified). The units you can find in Photogallery, have direct references from the table (for both portals).
This list is created on October 3, 1999.
